Stress isn't good for beauty, so you do what you can to relax, like taking long, hot showers. However, this luxury isn't very good for your hair or skin as the heat affects the outermost layer of your crowning glory and the biggest organ of your body. You've probably noticed that – dry skin that you can trace figures on after drying yourself from the hot shower session. That's a sign that your outer epidermal layer has been stripped and your skin is now seriously lacking moisture, hence the itchy, tight sensation. 

To counteract this, slather moisturizer as soon as you step out and dry yourself. Also, keep steam shower indulgences to a minimum. 

Dirty Phones and Sunnies

You probably know that you should not let anything dirty touch your skin, even makeup brushes not washed in days. But are you aware that phones and sunglasses are also included in the mix? As such, take time to clean your eye wear and smartphone regularly so you avoid getting zits on the top of your nose or the sides of your cheeks. One suggestion is to use headphones or headsets when talking on the phone. 

Ditching a Meal

Each meal is an opportunity for you to replenish your body's nutrients. As such, skipping a meal is like depriving your skin and hair, among others, this essential refueling. This means you're likely to speed up the aging process and even get dry skin if you don't take all three meals per day. Just make sure you minimize sugar and sodium intake as these also are not good for your skin and weight.

Wrong Product Containers 

Do you use anti-aging skin care products? If they come in jars, you're doing your dermal layers a serious disservice. That's because constant exposure to air and light, which is the case with jar packaging, can make the essential ingredients in the product break down faster. Which means you can expect to find the product less effective over time – a costly consequence indeed. As such, it's better to use those that are contained in tubes as these have smaller openings and block out light better.

High-Friction Pillowcases

If you don't already know, you're not supposed to sleep on your face as you're only inviting more wrinkle development. In addition to that, you should also use pillow cases made of satin or silk as these cause less friction and are thus less likely to cause collagen breakdown. Cotton pillowcases, unfortunately, are not facial skin-friendly, so consider changing them ASAP. By the way, you should also remember to change your covers on a weekly basis to avoid exposing your skin to the dirt building up on your pillow cases and sheets, which can lead to acne.
